To know that your actions are important and that they have an impact on other people’s lives is great. I used to feel bored by what I was doing. I used to have the feeling that I did nothing for days. It made me feel unimportant.

Here I have the feeling that every day I am creating something. Even if I have a day off and I decide to do nothing but sleeping in, eating and relaxing I feel good because I know that the next day is going to be full of good action again.

Today I read one of our student’s files and I realised how much the student improved. How much more major she became since she came to Beaver Run. When I looked at her this evening I saw her with different eyes. I didn’t see the girl that I saw before but I see the girl that is trying hard to learn. I see how she has improved and I see how much more grown up she is.

Being a co-worker in Camphill makes you responsible for another person’s development. You are shaping their lives, you are the one who is educating them. You are helping them to learn how to live.

I realised that I am not only shaping the student’s lives but what I say can also be important to other adults. And what they say or do is influencing my actions and thinking.

You are not only living for yourself but for your friends. And I want to know that my actions are meaningfull.
